DeBrights’ After School Program is opened to all students from Pre-Kindergarten through 6th grade.  DeBrights’ plan consists of an open environment where children of all grades play, watch educational movies share activities together. DeBrights’ After School Programs are offered to provide children with more opportunities to learn. Qualified staff lead these play based programs in ways that extend the learning that happens during the school day. Activities may include outdoor play, art projects, educational games, quiet time, independent activity, creative skills games, and homework help. In our effort to ensure that our After School is engaging, fun. and productive, we encourage parents, teachers and children to send in their suggestions. Please contact the After School officer for all After School related questions.

Homework is an important part of every child’s school experience. It is an opportunity to engage in learning at home and to support what is learned during the school day. Homework encourages good study habits at an early age that will help students to be successful. School staff, teachers, students and the family all play a key role in supporting homework. Positive and open school-home partnerships ensure students have the support they need to be successful. Please visit our home work policy page for more information.

For more information, speak to the school Office Administrator or Head Teacher when registering your child.

Enrollment forms are available in the After School Officers office and can also be downloaded online from the school website. Completed forms should be dropped off at the front desk or handed to the student’s class teacher. Once your enrollment form and payment have been received, you will receive a confirmation receipt

Parents/guardians are a key part of finding homework success. Some tips on what you can do to support your child include:

  • Set a time for homework and provide a quiet space away from distractions
  • Practice math, reading and writing daily and encourage your child to help you read and write everyday items such as recipes, newspapers or shopping lists
  • Show interest and talk about what happened at school
  • Praise and encourage your child to ask for help when needed
  • Keep in touch with teachers and ask about completed homework
